How to get your business on Apple Maps (step by step)

When someone searches in Apple Maps, they see your place card: name, hours, phone, photos and buttons. If you haven’t claimed it, you don’t control what it says. Apple now handles this in Apple Business, which replaced Apple Business Connect. Here is how to set it up, step by step.

Apple Business Connect is now Apple Business

Apple combined Apple Business Manager, Apple Business Essentials and Apple Business Connect into one service, Apple Business, at business.apple.com, and your place card on Maps is managed there now. If you sign in with a personal Apple Account instead of an Apple Account for Work, Apple says you can use only the brand and location features, which are the ones a place card needs.

Sign up and verify your organization

You enter your organization’s name, address and phone number and the legal name of the person signing up. The website is optional, but Apple says adding it can speed up verification. You then have 60 days to verify, with two of these methods, and it can take up to five business days:

  • A D-U-N-S Number or an Employer Identification Number (EIN)
  • A TXT record added to your website domain’s DNS
  • An official document, such as a business license or a utility bill
  • An app of yours in App Store Connect, if you have one

Add or claim your location

In Apple Business, go to Brands, then Locations, and select Add Location. Search for your business. If Apple already lists it, select it; you may be able to verify it with a phone call to the number Apple has on record, which gives you a four-digit code. If it isn’t there, add it: name, address, a pin on the right building, your main category, whether you are open, your phone number and your hours. A website and social pages are optional.

If another organization already manages the location, you can request a transfer with a document such as a business license or a utility bill. Apple says that review can take up to five business days.

Make the place card match your Google profile

Apple says Apple Business lets you control how your business appears with your logo, hours, images and key details. Use the same name, address, phone number and hours as on your Google Business Profile and your website, so customers never see two versions. Add photos that follow Apple’s photo standards: your storefront, your work and your team.

Add action buttons

Actions are buttons on your place card that link to your website or the platform you use, with labels such as “Order” or “Tickets”. The choices depend on your category: a restaurant can add Menu, Reserve, Waitlist, Pickup or Delivery. Apple approves each action, which can take up to three business days, and customers need iOS 17.4 or later to see them.

Use showcases for offers and news

A showcase is a box on your place card for a new item, a deal or an event: a headline of up to 38 characters, up to 100 characters of text, a photo and a button. It can run for up to 365 days (90 by default). Apple reviews each one, which can take up to three calendar days.

Check your insights once a month

Apple Business shows how often people tapped your location in search results, viewed your place card and tapped for directions, calls or your website, by day, week or month. Numbers below Apple’s privacy threshold show as zero, so look at trends over months, not single days.

Compare them with the performance numbers in your Google Business Profile. Wherever customers find you, the details should be just as current.

Ads on Apple Maps are a separate, optional step

Apple Business can also run ads on Apple Maps, in the United States and Canada. You set a monthly budget, which keeps running until you pause it, and Apple may offer eligible new advertisers a one-time $150 credit. None of the place card steps above involve ads, so start there and decide on ads later.

A showcase you can adapt

For a hypothetical HVAC company. Apple allows a headline of up to 38 characters and up to 100 characters of text.

Questions to work through

Is it free to put my business on Apple Maps?

Apple’s guide doesn’t list a fee for adding a location or editing your place card. Ads on Apple Maps are separate and optional: they run on a monthly budget you set, in the US and Canada.

What happened to Apple Business Connect?

Apple combined it with Apple Business Manager and Apple Business Essentials into Apple Business, at business.apple.com. Place cards are managed there now.

How long does Apple take to verify my business?

Verifying your organization takes two methods and up to five business days. A location transfer can also take up to five business days, action buttons up to three business days and showcases up to three calendar days.

Do I need a D-U-N-S number?

No, it is one option. You need two verification methods, chosen from a D-U-N-S Number or EIN, a TXT record on your domain, an official document such as a business license or utility bill, or an app in App Store Connect.

My business shows the wrong hours on Apple Maps. How do I fix it?

Claim the location in Apple Business and update the hours. If another organization already manages it, request a transfer with a document such as a business license or a utility bill.
